Make a custom accent light with a secret with the X-Carve CNC from Inventables

So…. sometimes I want a little candy and my kids have always found any secret spot where my wife or I have hidden stashes. That predicament led me to this fun project.

It’s an unsuspecting looking bedside table or accent light that has a secret storage compartment in the top. There are no obvious unlocking mechanisms on it which aids in it’s secrecy. I used an RFID card reading lock on the top. When you place the correct RFID card on a certain spot on the top… the front door opens. So not only do you need the RFID card to open it… you also have to know where to place it.

The construction is fairly simple and you can have a lot of fun customizing this project to make it your own. It took a while for the kids to figure it out 🙂
